General Museum Admission

Admission to the Museum includes a self-guided tour through the Museum’s permanent collection galleries and special exhibitions. Watch “What It Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame,” the 16-minute film that brings viewers on an amazing journey through the various aspects of thoroughbred racing and examines the rare honor — given to less than one percent of the sport’s participants — of reaching the game’s pinnacle and earning a coveted spot in the Hall of Fame. 

 

The day after Labor Day through May 31, the Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.  Currently, the movie plays every hour on the hour starting at 11 a.m. and the last showing at 3 p.m. 

 

June 1 through Labor Day the Museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week.

The movie begins playing at 10 a.m. and the last showing is at 4 p.m.

 

The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter, Kentucky Derby Day (for a fundraising event), and August 2nd (for a fundraising event).

Oklahoma Training Track Tour

Find out why this beautiful and historic site, located across the street from Saratoga Race Course, is a favorite base for leading trainers such as Todd Pletcher and Chad Brown. Our behind the scenes tours, offered in cooperation with the New York Racing Association, are available from June to October. This walking tour covers approximately 1 1\2 miles and lasts for 1 1\2 hours. 

 

Sturdy walking shoes are suggested! For more information and reservations call (518) 584-0400. 

 

For insurance reasons, tour participants must be at least 10 years old.

(No children in backpacks or strollers, no umbrellas)

 

Oklahoma Training Track Tours are by reservation only. The tour begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and leaves from the Museum parking lot. You will meet your tour guide in the Museum lobby. Reservations are required. Space is limited!

Farm Tour

Join the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame as we visit some of the best thoroughbred farms in Saratoga Springs! Guests will enjoy a unique 90-minute tour through a different thoroughbred farm every month, where a knowledgeable guide will give you a behind the scenes look at how these farms operate and what makes them tick. Then, we'll give you the chance to meet with some of racing's most legendary equine athletes, getting up close and personal with real thoroughbred racehorses. Finally, at the close of the tour, guests will have the opportunity to ask their guide any questions they may have about the care and keeping of these beautiful animals. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended on this tour.

Tom Durkin Tour

Take a guided tour of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame with legendary retired race caller Tom Durkin during the Saratoga Meet! Tours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and begin at 11 a.m. and are limited to 15 people. Reservations are required, and payment is required at the time of booking.

 

Tour price includes the special tour, admission to the Museum, and a showing of the new signature film, "What It Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame." Tours will meet in the lobby. Please be there five minutes before to leave time to check in at the Museum's front desk. Tours will begin promptly at 11a.m.

The Museum parking lot is located off of Ludlow Street. The Museum parking lot will not be available August 8th-15th due to a special event.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellation must be made at least 24 hours in advance in order to be refunded.

Rood & Riddle Hospital Tour

Explore a one-of-a-kind equine medical facility at Rood & Riddle Hospital! Serving the community since 2013, Rood & Riddle provides equine patients with quality medical care and excellent service. The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is proud to partner with Rood & Riddle to offer guests an inside look at the fascinating world of equine science and health. This is an exclusive, limited edition tour, and will only be offered twice in 2024. A Q+A session with your guide will follow the tour.

Before booking your tour, please consider a few things:

-Due to the nature of this facility, guests may witness medical procedures in-progress. If you are squeamish, please reconsider this tour.

-Absolutely NO PHOTOGRAPHS will be permitted on this tour. We will ask guests to delete photographs if necessary.

-This tour DOES NOT include petting/feeding of horses.

-This tour includes complimentary admission to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
